Hope Sentamu Learning Trust and Physics Partners are offering a series of twilight workshops for teachers of Physics. Each session will have a different focus, and will be delivered by experienced Physics teachers.
We will discuss the basic concepts and student misconceptions, suggest classroom activities and approaches for practical work, and give opportunities for further sharing of best practice.
About the trainer:
This online session will be delivered by David Farley. David graduated from Liverpool University with a degree in Physics in 1983 and started a career in teaching the following year after completing a PGCE. After a short teaching post in Liverpool he moved to an 11 - 18 school in his hometown of Wigan where he taught for 31 years. During that time, he was Head of Physics and then Head of Science before moving to school leadership ultimately as deputy head. Throughout his time at school he taught physics to all ages and was also involved in coaching work with trainee science teachers at Edge Hill University. For the last five years since leaving his school he has worked as an IOP coach in both the North West and Yorkshire & North East Regions. Initially employed as part of the Future Physics Leaders Project he provided coaching to schools in the Blackpool and Northumberland opportunity areas. He is now a general IOP coach providing support to teachers across England.
Please note that this session will be recorded for use by the Hope Sentamu Learning Trust.
