Join us for the second of the Manchester South Physics Hub sessions, led by Graham Perrin, Physics Partners Coach. This in-person session is hosted by Reddish Vale High School, Stockport, SK5 7HD.
Teaching Waves
Waves are fundamental to science, underpinning a large number of practical applications. This session will explore why studying waves is crucial, covering essential concepts like reflection, refraction, interference, and diffraction.
Understanding waves opens doors to exciting physics careers in wave related technology. Learn how communications systems rely on EM waves, and how hospital diagnostic procedures utilise x-rays and ultrasound. You will also see how wave knowledge contributes to research in harnessing sea wave power and improving prediction of earthquakes and tsunamis. Discover the physics behind careers like Surveyor, Sound Technician, and Optometrist, who utilize sound waves and refraction principles.
This session is fully-funded and delivered by Physics Partners. This session is part of the Manchester South Physics Hub series of twilight sessions for physics teachers, particularly non-specialists and early career teachers. Technicians are also welcome to attend.
